Learning SVG
Though the scope of the technologies involved quickly become complex, the basics of SVG are not difficult to grasp. A solid starting point is the upcoming SVG O’Reilly book which will quickly ramp up your working knowledge at a decent pace.
You can get started with creating and playing with SVG today by running through some of Inkscape tutorials.
Another great online SVG resource is this website which hosts the 2003 book, “Learn SVG: The Web Graphics Standard”.
Also available here are the interactive and fairly comprehensive SVG Tutorials which cover the Basics, Scripting, and Mathematics, all of which incorporate animations.
