I really can’t believe this, my older daughter has been having accident almost every night. I just finished washing all the beddings today. Then just now I was going to wake her up then I found she is in the puddle again, I was just thought if I woke her up to early then she would be crying. How I wish that I could have woke her up early!!! So the whole room smells very bad now again. When can we have an end to it?

Bad attitude at work

I am a very sensitive person, I did not think of it until recently. The company I joined in Jan, American Invsco. When I first started I was so happy to be very nice to everyone, they I noticed the receptionist is always having a very bad mood plus she is not helpful at all. I really do not know how she could survive for so many years there. My husband said it’s all me, I am too sensitive, I should just ignore her. But while Kim is not around, she could put the music very loud, always playing cards on the computer, chat on the phone or just to make jokes to the male employees. I could understand that she is young and she has to go to school, but still I wish that we could have a better person there as this is the reason that I do not want to go to that office. Maybe I should change myself but what do you do if someone very rode to anwser the phone?

Going to the citizenship interview tomorrow

I am going to the citizenship interview tomorrow although I am not really prepared for the questions. As I am not sure if I would like to get a US citizenship since my Dad does not want to get a green card any longer. After long thoughts, I think it will be nice for him to consider my situation and not want to immigrate to the US. Although I would like him to come and visit but I really can’t afford for him to stay here. Sometimes I feel bad as he always mention that this is his dream and his only wish. But what can I do? The economy is so bad and there is no way for us to live together since our place is so small. Plus I really do not have the energy to help him with lots of stuff. But I still decide to go there tomorrow as then I could try to extend it to see what to do after it.

New office at the 182 W Lake

I went to the new office today at the 182 W lake, the Century Tower, actually this is our old office which has been abandoned for some time. Since all the brokerage office is combined under the 111 E chestnut office. Last week, the director was asking who wanted to go there to cover some floor time, I thought it will be interesting to try it out. After a few tries and phone calls, I found one computer that I could be able to log on. The IT guy is not really helpful, as he told the people in the corporate office that I could use their computer if I need anything, but I am downstairs and they are on the second floor, hello? Right after I signed in the computer, there was a couple walked in. They are looking to purchase a two bedroom condo in the building. After a few phone calls, I figured out that the keys are at the management office on the second floor, there are three ladies there and they are very nice and helpful! Hopefully the doorman would refer to walk ins to me in the future instead of referring them to the 200 N Dearborn which he has been doing. So in order for me to make some friends and try to get some referrals, I went to Macy’s and got some chocolate for them:-)

Microsoft MapPoint 2009 for North America was released in July and reviews have been healthy along with the usual criticism.

Marvin Hlavac’s MapPoint 2009 Review focused on MapPoint 2009 GPS features and was generally positive regarding the product. However, in the discussion area for the Microsoft MapPoint 2009 article Richard Marsden voices some issues he found with the MapPoint 2009 release.

The software is now “slicker” looking with a Ribbonish interface and all new icons. Also, although I do believe the right-click drag option for select instead of a toggle button is an improvement, I empathize with the custom software developers who had over-ridden the right-click behaviour and must now do things differently in their programs.

I haven’t seen much coverage in GIS or general computing press, but it is still early and I’m sure more things will come out, especially after the MapPoint 2009 European release.

This is the first year that we could enjoy the fireworks in our building. I was really looking forward to it. At first we went upstairs but found out there are too many people on the deck already, then we decided to go downstairs. We have enjoyed it a lot on the tennis court, it was so so beautiful, Elizabeth said the sky is broken. Lydia said More after it’s done. It is so clear and so close to our face, so many colors, make people feel that the life is really colorful and we should enjoy it much!

Since we sold a couple of condos recently, we have been helping to do remodelling of the condo units and at the same time to purchase new appliances and modern furniture. There are a couple of the graduation parties that I have been invited to and kids birthday parties and more fancy parties with friends who are turning 40, friends going away parties, etc. Of course I do not want to show up with the same dress, but the problem is that I gave birth to two kids, and many of the dresses I had before can not fit me any more. My husband is talking about going back to school these days. But since we have the responsibility of taking of our kids, pay all kinds of bills, he could not be able to go back to school full time. So we are checking out the possibilities of on line study, which is more flexible as he could be able to manage his time 100 percent. He is a fast learner, so on line study will be very suitable for him as he could read and memorize very well. It will be hard for myself to take the online course as I am the kind of person need to listen to the teachers and to remember the text better.

After doing some researches, he found that Kaplan offers lots of Business Degree Online which includes but not limited to Business Management, Entrepreneurship, Sales Management and Internet Marketing. Since my husband has his own business, he would like to take the Business Management course, which would be concentrated on how to management your business, to max the business revenue and to minimum the business expenses, it also talks about how to manage staff, although we do not have so many staff yet, but we are thinking to enlarge our company in the near future, then we would need to know all the related skills.

After doing real estate for a while, I have met lots of different people. One of my client is Chinese, I have known her for a few years. I know that she is very detail oriented, so when I heard that she is looking for a place, I had to try my best to give her a call as I know that she would talk about lots of different things all the time. I had a dream of Heidi and Eric and Guy and Joseph the other day. A
new movie came out called Remember Me and the first ten minutes of the
movie Julia Roberts returned to her hometown, and she walked through
her big old house and she thought back to how she used to dance when
she was a kid. So as she walked through the big rooms the showed
flashbacks of her when she was younger and Heidi played that part and
Heidi was spinning and dancing. And we were all proud of Heidi for
getting the part because she had just recently taken up dancing and
everybody loved her in the movies. So to celebrate Eric, Guy, Joseph,
Heidi and I went on a day trip and we found a town where every store
had a big section that was full of donuts, and all the donuts in town
were free. So we just went into lots of stores and had a great time

Since the traffic is getting worse, it is always good to get some contacts of the Car Hire companies. Once we arrived at the Chicago O’Hare airport and we decided to eat a dinner first at the Hilton hotel by the airport before going home. We are surprised to find out that there were no taxis waiting at the hotel since there are shuttle buses to the airport. So end up we have to use a limo to get home. A second surprise is that the price is not as expensive as we thought, plus we the ride a lot nicer, the limo driver is very polite, not as some taxi drivers that always talks on the phone while driving. My two kids both have motion sickness and most of the taxi drivers tend to be in a big hurry to drive the car very jerky. But this limo was so smooth, none of them mentioned their stomach hurt at that ride.

We went to Chinatown for lunch today and noted there are a few new restaurants opened up. We went to Hing Kee, the restaurant is clean and new, the waitresses are very helpful and always come to our table to pour tea or water. While I was asking about the recommendations for dishes, they recommend a Tofu with mushroom dish for the kids, which came out to be a good choice as the tofu is so soft yet favorable. Lydia loves it, I bet if Elizabeth did not have sushi she would have a lot too. Eric ordered a beef stew with noodle, it was very delicious and spicy!

Two weeks vacation

We finished our two weeks vacation today. We went to Mexico for a week with a family and then went to visit Eric’s relatives for a week. We had so much fun and good food in these two weeks. Elizabeth has enjoyed playing with Tracy’s kids, they are very good kids. Joshua is the same age with Elizabeth, it is so cute to Liston to their conversation. Once Elizabeth was playing Joey’s toy, Joshua said to her that is Joey’s toy, then Elizabeth said that Joey wanted to share the toy right now. I could not help but laughing, but they are pretty serious at each other.

I took Lydia out at lunch time today and thought that we would go to some stores on Michigan avenue, however, since it is so cold, we really could not go that far, so after doing some choirs, we ended up in the prudential building, I let her out walking around with me, she was very happy and greeted many people, of course I got lots of good comments as return. Then we went to Cafe Roma and I ordered a late and a cookie, she was sitting on the bench with me. I really enjoyed the time with her today, it was very relaxing and nice.

The new play room in 155

We went to play in the remodeled play room in 155 yesterday, the room looks a lot better. It has blue sky, a whole wall of the chalk board, an electronic fish tank hanging on the wall. lots of new toys too. Elizabeth and Ethan were both very happy and played with two other older kids. We all know that the Chicago winter is long, although it is approaching to Feb but the temperature is dropping everyday, we just went out to play in the snow for 10 minutes, but all of us are freezing and has to come back immediately. So it is great to have a play room in the building.

We heard that Ericâ€™s brother William’s surgery went well. He may come home tonight if he passes the swallow test - they need to make sure he can swallow food properly without their being any internal problems, etc. If he can, he will come home this evening. If he can’t or has other complications, he may be in there a day or two longer. He has this stomach problem for years, hope this time he is cured and do not suffer pain any more.

Eric’s nephew has assembled his first computer while he was 12 years old. I can’t believe it, but he is the kind of boy like to assemble everything, later he knows more about parts of cars then us. He has assembled a sport car which won many races for him. He told me about PC Kits, he mentioned that lots of people are using it to assemble their own computer, just need a screwdriver and save at least $100. My husband got lots of good parts and hardware and assembled one computer recently by following the instructions, the computer works pretty well now.

We took the train today to Naperville. Elizabeth and Lydia were both very happy and excited. Elizabeth was kept on counting the trains on other tracks, and their colors, she kept on mentioning the containers on the trains were from the airplane. I told her it is to heavy to be loaded on the airplane and they all come from the big ship. Then she was very excited every time if she saw a play ground. On the way back, there were two kids sat behind us, the two girls were giggling while playing with them. They had great fun on the train.

We went to the Dupage Children’s museum today. It is our first time to take the kids there. They had lots of fun. There are so many things for them to play and explore over there. First you can make big bubbles, the biggest one you can stand in it. Then there are lots of different toys to play in the water, use light to draw on the wall, lots of different puzzles, use air to suck the balls or blow the little kites. I have learned something there too. We have spent 4 hours there and it was a great experience. The only thing I was hoping is if they could have a small food court, it only has some vending machines and one for the milk does not work, so we feel lucky that we have brought some lunch, otherwise, we may not be able to last that long.

When we went to the Children’s museum this Sunday, Eric has played the dominos with Elizabeth, she liked to knocked it down. But while other people put it up, we were joking with her and encouraged her to go and knock it down, she told me it belongs to the other kid. We watched the Jason Bourne’s third movie tonight, it was quite catchy. Although we know it is a fake story, but it is interesting to watch. I remember that I liked to read about the books a few years ago back when I still lived in San Francisco. So it is hard to remember the story. I was reading the real estate books yesterday in the book store. There are lots of books mentioning that people could make millions of dollars no matter in what kind of market. So since it is a down market now, it recommend to buy the foreclosure homes and to fix it and rent it out until finanlly the bull market comes back.

I am not sure if there is an easy way to make money as we do not know when the market is going to pick up again. But it is nice to read other people’s ideas.

We got some good comments from Eric’s brother Jon, he said that we are good models to them to take care of the kids together and take turns. And he loved our kids, although they need some attention now but they will be good kids. He always mention that Lydia is so cute while we were visiting with them too.

I am happy to hear this as this is a big encouragement for us, actually I do not think that our kids behave the best there since they do not take nap, it’s a new place, they were really cranky sometimes, but I am glad that they understood it.

My aunt has been very close me especially after my mom passed away 6 years ago. I have been calling her at least once a month, each time when we went to China to visit, she has been my great help! So after she left in October I called her once and did not talk to her until last night. We had a good conversation and she has invited me to go to visit China again this year.

Going Bunkers

We went to the Going Bunkers today with Tracy’s kids and grandma today. There were lots of people in there, it was very full, and we could not even find one table anywhere. Grandma put Elizabeth in the little kids section, but while I was putting Lydia on a slide, Elizabeth run outside and started to climb, in grandma’s words, ” she does not have fear, you would not think she is a little girl then!” But since there are too many kids and some of the big kids play pretty rough, she came back crying, so I asked Michael if he could go with her and take care of her, Michael did such a great job, Elizabeth enjoyed playing with him a lot, then Matthew went with her a few times. We all had a great time playing with Tracy’s kids, she has great kids. They are all so caring and nice! I hope that our kids can be like them when they grew up!

I have never seen so many gifts before, although they are not only for our family. My in laws have two big Christmas tree at home and one is a grandpa’s tree and the other one is a grandma’s tree. Christmas Dinner

We had a great Christmas dinner with my hubby’s family. There are around 20 people or more, my in laws made the best beef roast and smoked ham, they are so delicious, Lydia has enjoyed lots of ham as they could just melt in your mouth! We went to Cancun Mexico for a week vacation with our two little kids. This trip was great! Each time when I go skiing, I always amazed at how people could snow skate, it looks so cool, but I have never tried it. The other day I bumped into an old colleague of mine, he mentioned that go skiing is his passion, he has to go each year and after learning how to ski, he learned how to snow skate. One of my friends told me that I could do some free people search on line. I tried to search for some movie stars, there are lots of interesting story about them. Then I tried to search on my old Chinese name, it is interesting that the site has found many same names, some has resumes and some has photos or a little biography about the person. I could find a few friends that we did not have contact for a few years, this is really cool. Sometimes, it’s hard to keep contact especially like me coming to a very different city, so phone numbers change, e mail address change, and the spam folder catches not only the bad e mails but also the good e mails, so it also made me loose some contacts. So I am very happy to see my friends again on the web with their pictures, their little stories. One girl from high school was crying when I called her on the phone, as we were really good friends and she has been trying to find me for years too. Another thing I like this site is that they can find people all over the world not only people in the US. They do use lots of big search engines, such as Yahoo, MSN. Also, you can search people by contributed tags such as hair color, job title, Syracuse Alum, etc. Along with a search result, people’s profiles also list other areas on the web where they can be found (Wikipedia, LinkedIn, blog, etc) and have links to any news stories relating to them. You can link yourself to the person you found on line, or to vote and say if this is the right person. It is fun to just search for the people who has the my name and to read through their achievement, or try to contact them to say hi.

We went to the winter wonder land again, since today is not the weekend, there were not so many people, each time Elizabeth does not need to get in line, so she kept on climbing up to the big inflatable and then slide down. There was a big one that she could not do it last time, so today I encouraged her to go, she insists on me to go with her, I was swatting after getting to the top, actually it was quite a bit of work, but coming down was fun! We brought our nanny with us and she has enjoyed the visit too, she likes to wonder around the Christmas trees and watch the performance. She said it is like a palace! I have never played in this place before; I wish that we had this when I was little. The kids are so lucky nowadays!

A day dream

It may be a day dream, or the glass of wine I had, but tonight I clearly see us all standing in solid form. With the men and the women and the girls and the boys standing side by side, with the bravest amoung us (often the women and children) shoring up the weakest points and tempering our greatest fears.

Against a foe that seems much bigger than our small numbers, we still “know” that together we form a defense and weapon much mightier than the foe could ever imagine. Out of our small numbers ranks through our imaginations and our hopes and our love we create a combined spirit with an enourmously thick shield that takes any blow (bomb, disease, depression, addiction/habit, hatred) and after a breif pause of silence and reflection we respond with trillions and googles bubbles which float slowly and purposefully outward in all directions - some smaller than a virus and some 1000s of times larger than the foe - each one carrying the most potent potion/medicine from the depths of our combined reserves of love, passion and faith. The medicine provides all that is needed to help placate the foe and give it the insight/knowledge it would need.

I think the wine is wearing off. Very glad to have known you all and glad to know we have each other to lean on and call on as needed.

Adell’s surgery

Adell goes back into surgery this 24th coming up. The ball that is in the socket did not heal properly and now has to be cut off and an artificial one put in. The doctor won’t know if the whole hip needs to be replaced or not until he goes in. This surgery should hold up for about 10 - 15 years and then will have to be done again.

A quiet vacation

We spent our vacation in utah last month. Eric’s parents have a cabin near Yellowstone park so we stayed there for almost two weeks. It was nice to get away from the city hustle without emails and mobile. but after a while I started to get bored and missed Chicago even my work strangely. I guess it proves the grass is always greener theory.

Jon finished half Marathon

I am always so amazed that people could run Marathon, Eric’s young brother entered to run a Marathon this year in Columbia, MO, can you believe it, the road is winding, most of the routes you have to do ups and downs. He did not finish, as when he got trained, he just did half of it the most, so he could not run after the half, we went to pick him up, but I am still very proud of him!

A Choppy day for cruise

Today was too choppy to go out into the Atlantic which would have been a much shorter and
faster day from Cape May to Atlantic City. We had to take the ICW which had its own challenges- curves, narrow channels, shallow and shoaling. We couldn’t sit back and relax almost the entire time â€“ 50 miles - 6 hours - ridiculous isn’t it? But we did see lots of birds and very different scenery which I will put up on website soon.
